Department is a design-led coffee and lifestyle concept operating across three locations in Manchester, including Campfield House, Bonded Warehouse and XYZ.

Rooted in specialty coffee, Department focuses on calm, considered spaces designed to work throughout the day. Coffee is central to the offer and is roasted by Allpress Espresso, with a menu that balances well-made classics alongside seasonal and speciality drinks. Pastries and food are prepared in-house, with fresh juices pressed daily

The Role

We take our coffee and equipment seriously, and are looking for a passionate individual to take to deliver world class delicious coffees. Knowledge of Espresso and Latte art techniques are essential in this role and candidates must be able to work efficiently, cleanly and swiftly under pressure. You will be required to

Barista Duties

• Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages to company standards.
• Operate coffee machines and other beverage equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain excellent knowledge of the menu and make recommendations to customers.
• Ensure consistency in drink quality and presentation.
• Monitor stock levels of coffee, milk, syrups, and other supplies, reporting shortages when necessary.

Floor duties

• Take customer orders and process payments accurately.
• Deliver food and drinks promptly and professionally.
• Clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness of customer seating areas, service stations, and public areas.
• Replenish condiments, cutlery, napkins, and display items.
• Assist with food running during busy periods.
• Support opening and closing procedures, including cleaning and restocking.

You will have:

• previous barista experience within a fast paced environment;
• the ability to motivate and inspire a team; and
• a solution focused ‘ hands on’ approach to problems
